Some sofas invite you to sit. Others invite you to settle in. Designed by Andreas Engesvik, Velar draws on the familiar comfort of sitting up in bed. A place where the body can lean back, shift, and gradually come to rest. With its low position, curved back, and open sides, it creates a soft enclosure. Supportive, yet never enclosing. Structured, yet allowing movement.

A designer is someone who looks at the world of objects with curiosity, seeking to understand how things work, while also noticing what is missing and what could be improved. This curiosity is clearly seen in Andreas Engesvik’s work. He explores new ways of approaching materials and making use of their properties – always with a strong focus on what it is like to use and live with the furniture he creates. Take Bollo, for example – a bold piece of furniture, certainly, yet at the same time a pleasure to sit in. A little like a slightly eccentric outfit that fits perfectly, making you feel both comfortable and special at once.
