FUNCTION / FRICTION / FINESSE
Our mission as a furniture maker is to turn exceptional ideas into well-crafted furniture. It’s no coincidence that we see ourselves as furniture makers. After all, our factory – with its wood workshops and studios for upholstery, cutting and sewing – is the heart of our business. This gives our designers, product developers and prototype makers the time and space they need to explore how ideas and sketches can be translated into long-lasting furniture.
Craftsmanship, material knowledge and close collaboration between designers and makers have shaped the way we work since 1981. Having our own factory allows ideas to be tested, adjusted and refined close to production – often by hand, always with great care.
Our aim is to build furniture that people grow more attached to over the years. We believe there is a common denominator to what such pieces offer: both function and friction. Friction is what gives a piece of furniture its distinctive character: the poetry of the thing.
Function alone is no fun. Friction alone makes no sense. You need both. It is a conviction that we share with our collaborators – designers who have the courage to question habitual ideas about how things should be, and who do so with finesse. You can tell when something is made with finesse. It just feels right.
Our showrooms
Furniture is made to be experienced with the body, not only with the eye. In our showrooms in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Oslo, you can spend time with the furniture as it is meant to be experienced: sitting down, comparing materials, browsing swatches, and noticing how different pieces feel in different settings.
Our Flagship Store in Stockholm is both workplace, showroom and store – a space where the full collection comes together under one roof. In Gothenburg and Oslo, our showrooms offer a closer look at selected parts of the collection together with guidance from experienced sales teams. Whether you arrive with detailed plans or simple curiosity, you are welcome to explore at your own pace.
While our showrooms are places to experience the furniture, much of the work begins at our factory in Poland, where ideas are developed, tested and refined close to production.
