Monica Förster
Förster is a Stockholm-based designer, with a distinct voice that remains recognizable across disciplines – from carpets, glass and cutlery to hand-carved bowls and furniture. Represented in the permanent collection of the National museum in Stockholm, and with exhibitions at MoMA in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Her work consistently balances sculptural clarity with technical and material innovation.

This interplay between weight and lightness, precision and imperfection, also resonates in Förster’s broader work, including the Retreat sofa, where generous volumes create a sense of enclosure while maintaining architectural clarity. Across projects, her philosophy remains consistent: innovation must serve experience, and strong form must carry emotional depth.
“Typefaces are like tiny sculptures – their imperfections make them both beautiful and legible,” Förster notes – a perspective that reflects her belief that even in the most structured forms, it is the human touch that gives design its lasting resonance.
