A table can begin with a function. Or it can begin with a material. Kern starts with stone – not as something to shape, but something to understand. In its higher form, it brings the surface up, making it easy to use while seated.

A Stockholm-based designer, with a distinct voice that remains recognizable across disciplines — from carpets, glass and cutlery to hand-carved bowls and furniture. Represented in the permanent collection of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, and with exhibitions at MoMA in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Her work consistently balances sculptural clarity with technical and material innovation.
