Carina Seth Andersson

Seth Andersson is one of Sweden’s most respected contemporary designers, known for her refined and quietly expressive work in glass, ceramic and everyday objects. Educated at Konstfack in Stockholm and the Royal College of Art in London, she has developed a practice where clarity of form and material sensitivity are central. Her work often begins with simple geometries – cylinders, cones, cubes – which she subtly adjusts the proportion, thickness and surface of to create presence without excess.

Glass has been a recurring focus in Carinas practice, where she explores how light interacts with weight and transparency. Rather than adding decoration, she allows material and structure to define the character of each object. This restrained yet confident approach has led to collaborations with a several well renowned brands.

A distilled example of her philosophy is the Cube vase. Reduced to a pure geometric volume, Cube transforms a simple square form into something tactile and quietly sculptural. The softened edges, careful proportions and interplay between solidity and transparency give the object depth and architectural presence. It frames flowers almost like a spatial container, turning arrangement into composition.

Carina Seth Andersson is the recipient of the Bruno Mathsson Prize and is represented in several museum collections. Her work continues to demonstrate how reduction, when guided by precision and sensitivity, can result in objects of lasting strength.

“I am drawn to simple geometries — when the proportions are right, the object gains a life of its own.”
