Tiki 3 Seater Sofa

The inspiration for Tiki comes from Kon-Tiki — the raft that Thor Heyerdahl sailed to Polynesia in 1947. This can be seen, among other things, in the shape of the back cushion and armrests, which echo Kon-Tiki’s sail when filled with wind.

About

When the Tiki sofa was launched in 2014, it immediately aroused considerable curiosity among design enthusiasts. Tiki is elegant in that characteristically nonchalant way that is impossible to imitate. Today, over ten years later, much suggests that Tiki has joined the small and exclusive group of furniture that never feels like yesterday’s news, but whose relevance instead increases over time. The Tiki Sofa, is an exceptionally well-built and comfortable piece of furniture.

Good design often begins with curiosity. How does something work? And what happens when you approach a familiar object from a different direction? For Andreas Engesvik and Jannicke Grung, the designers behind Oslo-based studio Grung Engesvik, these questions are part of an ongoing conversation. Their work explores materials, construction and everyday use, bringing different perspectives together through experimentation and craftsmanship. The ambition is to create objects that people will enjoy using, caring for and keeping.
