Stefan Borselius
The Swedish designer recognized for his technically inventive and character-driven approach to furniture design. Educated at HDK – Academy of Design and Crafts at the University of Gothenburg, he developed an early fascination with construction, mechanics and industrial production — elements that continue to shape his practice. For Borselius, technical challenges are not limitations but starting points for expression.
His work often highlights structure rather than concealing it. Movement, modularity and material efficiency are recurring themes, and many of his projects reveal an engineer’s curiosity combined with a designer’s sense of form.

This approach is evident in the Tondo lounge chair, where a strong, graphic silhouette meets inviting comfort. The circular gesture implied in its name is balanced by a carefully engineered construction, creating a chair that feels both bold and approachable. Tondo demonstrates Borselius’ ability to merge sculptural clarity with ergonomic precision.
In the Myko chair, he explores lightness and flexibility through advanced moulding techniques. The chair’s refined profile and subtle detailing reflect a deep understanding of material behaviour and production logic. Myko is compact and efficient, yet visually distinctive — a result of Borselius’ focus on letting structure define character.
Over the years, he has received several prestigious awards, including the Bruno Mathsson Prize, one of Sweden’s highest honors in furniture design.
Across his portfolio, Stefan Borselius demonstrates that clarity of construction can generate powerful visual presence — where innovation is not added decoration, but embedded in the very core of the object.

“I’m interested in when technology becomes visible — when construction itself creates the design.”
