Lyra Chaise lounge
Lyra reintroduces the art of reclining, creating space for rest, thought, and moments that unfold at their own pace.
About
With the Lyra Chaise Lounge, designer Andreas Engesvik breathes new life into a classic piece of furniture: the chaise longue. Lyra Chaise Lounge is a perfect place for both daydreaming and quiet conversation, with great potential to become the favourite piece in the home. Here you sit slightly more upright than in traditional versions, yet no less comfortably. The Lyra Chaise Lounge is also somewhat wider, allowing you to move freely within it. The chaise longue has a long and exclusive history. Aristocrats in ancient Egypt and Greece already stretched out on chaise-like furniture to relax. Today, many associate the piece with Parisian salon life, Freud’s famous couch — which was in fact a chaise longue — or with modernist masterpieces by designers such as Marcel Breuer, Charles and Ray Eames, and the team behind the LC4: Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and Pierre Jeanneret.

The designer / Andreas Engesvik
A designer is someone who looks at the world of objects with curiosity, seeking to understand how things work, while also noticing what is missing and what could be improved. This curiosity is clearly seen in Andreas Engesvik’s work. He explores new ways of approaching materials and making use of their properties – always with a strong focus on what it is like to use and live with the furniture he creates. Take Bollo, for example – a bold piece of furniture, certainly, yet at the same time a pleasure to sit in. A little like a slightly eccentric outfit that fits perfectly, making you feel both comfortable and special at once.
