Barba Lounge chair
Barba unquestionably has sculptural qualities, like a soft monolith. It is a piece of furniture that makes a statement—yet without taking up much actual space.
About
With its slightly clumsy cheerfulness and colourfully idiosyncratic form, the generous Barba Lounge Chair lifts the mood in any setting. It draws the eye and raises a smile. You want to squeeze it and feel it—and of course, to sit in it. And when you do, it feels like getting a hug from a friend. The Barba Lounge Chair is a tribute to the life-affirming, slightly anarchic French children’s book character Barbapapa. Anyone familiar with Barbapapa’s adventures will immediately recognise him in this furniture piece, designed by Andreas Engesvik and built by the skilled craftspeople at our factory.

The designer / Andreas Engesvik
A designer is someone who looks at the world of objects with curiosity, seeking to understand how things work, while also noticing what is missing and what could be improved. This curiosity is clearly seen in Andreas Engesvik’s work. He explores new ways of approaching materials and making use of their properties – always with a strong focus on what it is like to use and live with the furniture he creates. Take Bollo, for example – a bold piece of furniture, certainly, yet at the same time a pleasure to sit in. A little like a slightly eccentric outfit that fits perfectly, making you feel both comfortable and special at once.
