Bond – Built Around You
September 2026
The way we live rarely stays the same. Rooms change purpose, collections grow, new objects find their way in and the boundaries between living, working and gathering continue to shift.
Designed by Swedish design duo MAIN, Bond is a modular shelving system made to adapt, expand and take on new roles over time. Its flexible construction allows it to respond to different rooms, different needs and different ways of living.

MAIN is the Swedish design duo of Elin Rahnberg and Martin Berling. Bond marked their debut on the Swedish design scene in 2018.

Living with Bond
What we ask of a shelf changes with the room around it. At home, it becomes part of the everyday landscape – a place for books, objects and the things that accumulate around us. It might stretch behind a sofa, turn a corner around a dining table or create a backdrop for a bed, moving between storage and the architecture of the room.
Elsewhere, the same structure can take on a different role. Around a desk, shelves keep the things we work with close at hand while giving the workspace a sense of place. In a reception or shared environment, Bond can work at a larger scale, holding and displaying objects while helping to give structure to an open room.
At a larger scale, Bond can begin to create a room within a room. Free-standing configurations can extend into the space, turn corners and connect in different directions to frame an area without enclosing it completely. A workspace, seating area or place to gather can gain its own sense of place, while sightlines remain open and light continues through the structure. Upholstered divider panels can add softness and a greater degree of separation where it is useful.
Bond doesn't prescribe a single solution. From a compact shelf in a private room to a larger structure in a shared environment, the same system can take on different roles as the space around it changes.
Open shelves leave room for the objects we use, collect and choose to keep around us, while upholstered panels add softness and contrast.
From the wall and into the room
Behind these different uses is the same modular system. Bond can follow the architecture of a room or extend beyond it, with 20 cm and 30 cm shelf depths offering different possibilities for storage and display.
Wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted and free-standing configurations allow the system to move between different scales and settings. Together, these elements allow Bond to move comfortably between furniture and architecture.
