Barba Club Chair
The Barba Club Chair unquestionably has sculptural qualities, like a soft monolith. It is a piece of furniture that makes a statement – yet without taking up much actual space.
About
With its slightly clumsy cheerfulness and colourfully idiosyncratic form, the compact Barba Club Chair lifts the mood in any setting. It draws the eye and raises a smile. You want to squeeze it and feel it – and of course, to sit in it. And when you do, it feels like getting a hug from a friend. The Barba Club Chair is a tribute to the life-affirming, slightly anarchic French children’s book character Barbapapa. Anyone familiar with Barbapapa’s adventures will immediately recognise him in this furniture piece, designed by Andreas Engesvik and built by the skilled craftspeople at our factory.

Good design often begins with curiosity. How does something work? And what happens when you approach a familiar object from a different direction? For Andreas Engesvik and Jannicke Grung, the designers behind Oslo-based studio Grung Engesvik, these questions are part of an ongoing conversation. Their work explores materials, construction and everyday use, bringing different perspectives together through experimentation and craftsmanship. The ambition is to create objects that people will enjoy using, caring for and keeping.
